How To Wear a Bathrobe

How to Wear a Bathrobe

Wearing a bathrobe is easy since they tend to be loose and comfortable. Whether you’re planning a long weekend at home or a romantic getaway, here are some specific instructions and tips for how to wear a bathrobe.

First, Choose Your Size

The most important thing you can do to ensure your perfect bathrobe is cozy and is worn properly is to choose the right size, just like with other clothes. Make sure your robe has wide sleeves for your shoulders and arms and that it falls between the calf and ankle.

How To Wear Your Bathrobe

Once you’ve selected the right size, most robes can be worn in the following way to provide you with the ultimate comfort:

Place the Robe Over You

Hold the bathrobe by the top section (around the shoulders at the shawl collar) and wrap it around you. Put your arms in the sleeves.

Secure the Waist

While wearing the robe, cross the front left panel securely over the right front panel. Pull the left panel as snugly as you’d like over the right. Most bathrobes come with a belt. If so, take both sides of the belt and tie them securely around your waist. You can either tie the belt off to one side or you can tie it in front. When tying your robe, you can make a double knot or tie it the same way you would a bowtie.

Adjust the Tightness and Features

Adjust the tightness as needed so that the robe feels both secure and comfortable. If your robe has a hood, you can adjust the hood as needed as well, so that it lays flat on your back.

The most important thing to remember when wearing your bathrobe is that it feels cozy since robes are ideal for relaxing and lounging around.

What To Consider Before Buying Your Bathrobe

Before purchasing a bathrobe, make sure to consider the following factors:

Material

The material of your bathrobe can make or break how soft it feels. Look for ones that are plush and made from ultrasoft, luxury materials (such as microfiber, Turkish cotton, terry cloth, or waffle knit).

Weight

Robes are available in a variety of weights. Heavier robes tend to be better for cold nights and winter days, while lightweight robes are better for warm temperatures and the summer season.

Large Pockets

Consider a bathrobe with large pockets. This makes it possible to carry items such as your phone, book, journal, or other personal items.

When To Wear Your Bathrobe

People wear bathrobes for all types of reasons. Your bathrobe can be worn any time you feel like unwinding. This can include:

  • After taking a bath or shower
  • During lazy weekends at home
  • In the morning while making coffee
  • As a dressing gown
  • After work
  • During cold days (including cold mornings)
  • As a bath towel
  • For cozy date nights at home
  • When you go to the spa
  • When you stay at hotels
