Why Ours Fit

Cut roomy on purpose.

  • It wraps and crosses all the way over, so it stays shut when you sit down — no holding it closed, no belt that won't reach.
  • Room through the shoulders and sleeves, so it moves with you instead of pulling every time you reach for something.
  • Covers your legs properly rather than riding up like a short wrap — the same full length we cut every size to.
  • No guesswork about which size to order: tell us your height and weight and we'll tell you which one to buy.
A Plush Necessities® robe is the one that finally fits the way a robe should.
The fit

Room where robes usually pull.

The chest and hip are where a too-small robe gives out first — it gapes across the front, the belt won't tie, and it never really closes. Ours run 68 to 74 inches through the body at 2XL and 3XL, cut to wrap and cross over properly rather than just barely meet.

The size

Between 2XL and 3XL? Let the data pick.

Where a robe lands depends on your height and build, not just the label on the tag. The Find My Size tool on every product page takes your height and weight and recommends a size drawn from thousands of data points and years of customer feedback — and plenty of customers size up on purpose for extra wrap.

Plush Necessities®
Why we made it

A robe should be made to last a decade, not a season.

That was the whole idea behind Plush Necessities®: take the robe you never want to give back at the spa, and make one good enough to live in at home — soft enough to crave, tough enough to keep, and priced so it's a treat you can actually justify.

More than 100,000 customers and a shelf of "Best Robe" awards later, our robes are the ones you keep reaching for.

Why our robes took so long

"It took over a year to develop — and it was worth every day. Twenty years later, we still make the exact same robe, designed the way I insisted on from the start: high stitch count, lay-flat seams, pre-washed and ready to wear. Some things you don't improve — you just get right the first time."

★★★★★ My husband is 6'3 and 325 lbs. I ordered him the 3X robe and it fits him like a robe should! It's big enough to go around him and cross over and the belt is big enough to tie. It even hits him mid calf!!! TOTAL HOME RUN!!

★★★★★ Online purchases can be risky. Especially for plus size women. But, you just know when you’ve connected with the right seller and made a totally satisfied purchase. I beamed with joy after receiving my first order from Plush Necessities., but definitely not my last. I bragged so much about the plushness of my Signature robe until my BFF ordered her’s the same day.

★★★★★ Everything I wanted — medium weight, not too heavy but still enough there to keep me warm on the way to the hot tub. Nicely absorbent after the first wash. At first wearing, seemed too big (XL, I'm 6'2" 235) but one wash shrunk it about perfect.

★★★★★ These are top-notch bathrobes and I would highly recommend them. Thick but not too thick. We got the waffle weave. Very high-quality. I got XXL AND I AM 6’2” AND 225 POUNDS

★★★★★ My husband loves the robe I gifted him for Christmas. For reference he's 6'5", 250. It's long enough and wide enough. He's recently had surgery so was ALWAYS complaining about being cold. Those days are over thanks to this fantastic robe!

★★★★★ Finally a plus size robe that closes in front and stays when I sit down. I am returning for an XL instead of the XXL. Height and Weight: 5'5" 247 lb

Built to outlast

A far higher stitch count. Seams built to last.

Here's why they hold up when other robes give out: our robes are sewn with a far higher stitch count than most, with the inner seams finished as smooth as possible — so they don't blow out or rub. That matters more at 2XL and 3XL, where a cheaper robe splits at the shoulder or the belt loop first.

Craftsmanship

Finished by hand — down to the last seam.

The difference is in the details. Every robe we make gets hours of meticulous tailoring: the inner seams finished as smooth as possible so nothing rubs against your skin, a beautifully trimmed cuff, and every thread, every stitch, and every seam crafted to sit just right. It's the kind of finishing you feel the moment you put it on.

Good to Know

XXL, XXXL & Plus Size Robes

Every style runs XXS through 3XL in one relaxed unisex cut. 2XL and 3XL are the sizes written elsewhere as XXL and XXXL, and they're the same sizes women's plus sizing calls 2X and 3X — one label, stocked in all four robes rather than being a special order.

On the Plush Signature, Organic Terry and Hooded Waffle, 3XL fits up to a women's dress size 30 or a men's 56 suit, with a 71" chest and a 69–71" hip. The Luxe runs roomier in the body — 74" chest, 76" hip — but its size run tops out nearer a women's 26 or a men's 54.

The Luxe Robe in 3XL, at a 74" chest and 76" hip — the most generous cut we make. If you want maximum room through the body, that's the one. If you want the largest size run, the Plush, Organic Terry and Hooded Waffle go further up the chart.

Yes — 2XL is 55" shoulder to hem and 3XL is 56", with sleeves of 26" and 27". Every robe we make is full length by design, cut to land between the lower calf and the ankle rather than stopping at the knee.

Use the Find My Size tool on any product page: enter your height and weight and it recommends a size drawn from thousands of data points and years of customer feedback. If you like a robe to wrap generously rather than sit close, size up — plenty of customers do exactly that.
